There's a guy on Ebay who sells underdash electrical air conditioning units for very reasonable money. Apparently a lot of the hot rodders use them. Might be worth a look.

If you do find a donor, don't forget the crankshaft pulley/balancer needs to come along with it. It has the double row pulley for the extra belt.

nope R12 was replaced with R34....

But... there is no direct replacement for R12...

to go to R34 you have to replace the condenser, compressor, drier.... and every rubber seal...

Vintage air would probably be the next best thing...

So I wouldn't have to replace the whole dash... I assume the HVAC controls. You are referring to the wiring harness for that, right? Time to make the rounds at the U-pull-it again. I'll def. check out other years/models too.

The B310 was the first of our small Datsuns to get integrated air & it came as a simple kit. Just find yourself a junked, but aircon equiped donor, & you're home free.

The cars original wiring harness has all the right fittings to just plug the aircon's wiring connectors into, so it is not difficult to fit at all & I did this with my 200B [P810] Just make sure that you get ALL of the parts from the donor car[s].
You'll love it.

if you can't find 210 look at early nissan sentras, like the 83 model, you could probably use that system with few mods, and they are common here.

I have a sunny/210 (B310) with factory air...

unfortunately It would be a hard/expensive for you for 4 reasons

1. I live in australia
2. it is RHD
3 I don't know if R12 gas is still available in the states...
4 it is a Square light sunny/210

in the sunny/210 the factory air conditioning is intergrated into the dashboard... where the heater controls on the dashboard are is replaced with specific A/C controls....

the dashboard (or most of it) would have to come out to fit it...

it wouldn't be hard to fit I imagine... just time consuming!

as for welling it...I wouldn't sell it... you would probably regret it later!... LOL!

It's not impossible.

You'd need to closely study the parts in an A/C system and find ones that fit in your car.

In Australia, b210, b110 A/Cs are very similar. They were sold aftermarket and factory option.

Late model B120/B140 (south african) Utes are a good source for A/C parts here in Australia.

Installing the A/C shouldn't be too hard. No harder than installing a car alarm and changing the headgasket.

It all depends if you can find the parts second hand.

It certainly would be easier to just buy a car with A/C. For the cost of the parts and regassing, you'd get a whole car with A/C, but it wouldn't be a datto.

Up to you, ring around wrecking yards.

Maybe the 210/b210 in the US got A/C more frequently that it's Australian brother.

Cheers,
Chris
