Funny you should say that (even though it's probly like 10+ months or something). Hillclibming in essencse is about getting a cold car(I'll just call it that- cold tyres, cold engine, trans, ect) throught the course as quickly as possible.

Drivers have their own tricks like trying to duck out to the highway before runs and whatnot but that yeah it actually is suppose to be harsh on a car

Cant believe it is slowly making a comeback. Thought id never see the day. I couldnt be happier. 5min up the road from my house and one of Australias best tracks i reckon. Hopefully its in full swing by time i get the race car ready. Sounds like ill need a good muffler to run though.

I was lucky enough to hear about this one through a Performance Forums.

Pine Rivers Shire Council are due to make a decision on the tender for the management rights to Lakeside any day now, so I'll keep an ear out for that news. They announced earlier in the year that they wanted to have arrangements finalised by September.

newspaper article about Lakeside from April 06

Total Driver who ran this day, have made a submission on that tender. They told me the next event will probably be after the new arrangements are in place. They have basically had use of the facility for driver training in a sort of caretaker role up until now.

i heard a rumour today about another track day organised for Oct, but given the pending decision, i think that's just a rumour. I'll try to find out more though.

Register on performanceforums.com and keep an eye put.

Harry - It's funny you say that about hillclimbing being hard on the car. Having not ever competed in hillclimbs I had always thought it would be easier on the car due to the shorter runs meaning less heat soak etc. I guess you learn something every day.
