A good rust free 1200 stock can sell very well. There is a lot of Datsun and other japanese cars followers willing to pay good money for a rust free vehicle, stock and well kept.
How many times I have seen cars sold, only to hear people say...man!! if I knew about it... Some sellers rush to sell, and there is the problem, that is why the prices seem low , in my view.A good bid requieres invitation to tender, with a preliminary period of information. If the item is a diligently contrived one, the forum for such transaction has to be the forum that will attract people that will comply with the requirements. Good taste and purchasing power. Here in US, there is probably 100 american made car enthusiast for every japanese made car enthusiast. If you have a nice American made car, chances are there is an army of guys looking for a nice car.....willing to pay top dollar. A way to funnel the older import car market enthusiast numbers and concentrate the purchasing power of these sector would be to create an exclusive Import car market. I am sure many people interested in cool and or older imported cars missed tenders for cars like Matt's, because, you guys know how it is....you can scan E bay or Craigs list or any for months to no avail.....and the minute you lower your guard....there it goes....like lightning...appeared and got sold.....the car of your dreams. Strategy..... there has to be a strategy.

A similar car with super-low miles like that sold last year on ebay for about $4500-ish (USD). That car had all original paint, whitewalls, and had a vinyl top installed. A total cream puff.
With fuel prices the way they are (compared to last tear) I've noticed the prices going up on the 1200's. Don't know if it's related or not, but a coupe on ebay last week was bid up to around $3500 with rusted rocker panels on it.

Now that is a nice car huh at least you can still get good ones and by the pic that was an excellent car. I think the buyer did very well on the purchase.

I would guess AU$2000-AU$6000 depending on sun damage. Seems US dollar prices match Aussie dollar prices. So I would expect a similar car is worth AU$2000-AU$6000 also.
But with factory original panels being 'unavailable' how badly do you want it? Demand and price for such cars..even to break up for for spares will get higher every day.

there's a minty in 'just cars' this month from ACT. No rust 70,000 original miles for AUD$3,500. I would say thats about right.
It depends on the sellers attitude towards them, some think they're junk and sell for <$1000, others think they're worth a mint and ask rediculous amounts, I guess you've just got to look at heaps and find what the true market value is. You can view topic.
