quick question what is the cirlce cut out for inbetween the drivers handle and the fuel filler?

It's acutally not a cut out, it's a bracket i think might have been used for some sort of tray cover back in the day. I'ts unused at the moment.

But you're right... you scared me there for a second I took a look at the pics and yeah it does look like a cutout.

Yeah, you're right mate it was at Startrek Express.

I bought it off an employee who had been keeping his eye on it for quite some time. It was sitting at the Startrek depot surrounded by boxes for approx 3 years before the gentleman I bought it off decided to take the plunge. Over the last year the previous owner has only put 4 tanks of petrol through it. He proved it to me by showing me the vavle saver additive he'd been using, and how little he had used!

Well, last night the thermostat had #### itself and I needed to replace it this morning before I went to work. What and easy job that is. So little work then changing a thermostat in a 300ZX! You need to take off intercooler piping, radiator, fan and get to some really difficult bolts that require a combination of different rachet accessories.
$8 and one and a half hours later the job was done, gaskets, pipes and topped up ready to go. Worked like a charm.

What a great buy!

Be careful where you park it, people with newer cars have no respect for our classic little beasts and how easily they dent.

Long time reader, first time poster... I feel so special. About 2 weeks ago I bought my second ever Datsun. My first was a 180b which was my first car when I was 16. A couple have come and gone since then. My last car was a twin turbo 300ZX, which has made way for this new puppy. The 300ZX is still up for sale as well, so if you know anyone that's interested, PM me and I'll forward on some details! I'm downsizing for a couple of reasons. One of those is money (the most important)

It's a 79, mostly original and in great shape.

New paint I think (if not, outstanding for the age!)
Has had a front disc conversion (i think, didn't these come out with 4 drums?)
Standard engine (carby needs a tune, mostly because of the cold weather)
Full exhaust inc 4into1 extractors, and the twin tips dumping out to the side
New struts on all corners
Tray cover of course
I also have all the recepts since the orginal sale of the car (the orginal owner loved this thing, paid $5000 brand new back in its day)

Plans?
I'd like to get some old school grunt out of this baby, lumpier cam, dual carbie setup etc.
Maybe later next year, move onto a fuel injected turbo setup, I'm already missing the speed (300zx)

Name is Steve by the way, I live in Canberra, and would love any advice I can get, very keen to learn about these bad boys.

Of course we all know that pictures can say a thousand words... so...
