#1 Glide Ride
Dodgeman Posted on: 2006/8/10 13:49
While fixing up my 1200 coupe, I decided to replace the interleaf pads in the rear springs.
Mine were now 33 years old & had seen about 80,000 miles of road use. Most of them were still in place & not yet worn away completely, but there was one that was worn right down.

A quick check of the parts book showed that they were not even listed, but I knew that B10 ones were, so I asked my friendly spare parts man to check, & whadda ya know, they are still available, so I ordered a set.

They are part No. E4043- C9001, "Silencer- Spring" & you need eight of them per vehicle.

They actually turned up & I fitted them this afternoon. I am convinced that the original 1200 ones are exactly the same part as the B10 items as they looked the same as the old ones that I removed & fitted in there perfectly.
This will remove the stiction problem that some people suffer from when their interleaf pads have worn right down to nothing.

By fitting the Nolathane shackle, & front spring eye bushes, & greasing them correctly as per the instructions, then fitting these interleaf pads, the rear springs are now much more compliant & the ride quality has noticeably improved. Shocks in good working condition are a must too & mine were recently replaced
Any & all rear suspension noises have gone now. Funny how that happens when everything is in good working order.

Now for the downside.
If you decide to buy some, make sure that you get a price first. Unfortunately, they are not a dollar a dozen. Not even close.
