I had thought very serios about converting my datsun to dual feul , the only reason I have'nt is cause here in the southern U.S. there are not any LPG pumps at any gas stations .

I don't know what will happen to the price of lpg, here in the states it's very gray, depending on the state you may only pay the regular sales tax on it with no road taxes, the price is always at least $1/gallon less for lpg.
the efficency issues are mostly because of the dual fuel setups. I've gotten about 30mpg on the highway going as 80+ mph, not too bad, my city milage is crap. I think I can tune the city milage to be better. I guess LPG is not for everyone. Unless i get a way bigger tank, 20gal vs 8 which is what i'm working on now, it's of limited usefulness. I drive around and it's about the same price per week as petrol. the maintenance costs are much lower with not needing oil changes very often, so i bought a few bottles of expensive oil and it'll be in there a long time. ( if you have an old tired engine, then you'll be waiting a while to see oil stay clean. ) there are issues with LPG, but i think it's because we choose to see them, rather than petrol's perceived safety. I don't plan on going back to petrol unless something unexpected happens.

I own a 1991 Nissan Navara that is on dual fuel.
This is the only car I have taken any notice of milage that has gas so it may not be accurate for other vehicles. On petrol it does about 410-450 k's per 65 litre tank, and on gas it only does about 260-280 k's per 60 litres. So in my case, where gas is half the price, I am only getting a bit more than half the mileage. So if they up the price of gas i will start using petrol to be more economical Cheers Mitchell Edit: I'm with whitesedan on the government thing

I believe there are rumors abound about adding an excise to LPG to bring it in line with petrol and diesel. Its not a rumour, its a legislated reality, 2011.

Either way, lots of people are jumping at it, and lots of workshops are gonna make a lot of money out of it. I enquired about equipment to set up a workshop for fitouts and there is already a 6 month waiting list on equipment. I also know of 3 workshops already booked out with installs well into 2007. Money to be had and money to be lost. But the government will never lose.

yeah it will more than likely go that way! i think your on the $ with pushing the price of lpg up i wonder do you have to go to full lpg or if you can stay dual fuel so when lpg skyrockets you can go back to petrol
