36/36 DCD7 work good. EVERYTIHING in carb can be optimize to suit motor. Or 38/38/DGAS from Ford 3ltv6 work good and is cheaper.

They upgrade 4.2 litre jeeps with the 32/36. It's probably good for at least 150hp. The next step up is a bigger 2-barrel (like a GM rochestor or a traditional Holley).

You meant with downdraft carbies right? because the answer is yes. But you'd definatley want to have a motor that can hold it's own without them due to lack of airflow like bigger motors have in spades.

That just made me think, if the 32\36 came off 4litre Cortina's and they are heaps good on our motors, does that mean that they were asthmatic lumps of crap on the Fords? and what would they have used for upgrades besides sidedrafts?

Cant see the point in going that big with the carbs you cant get the ports that big to flow the air.

Some people even run 44mm Mikuni/Solexes and 45mm Webers.

Do you mean a 40 dcoe weber ?

That would be the next step from a 32/36 and single 40mm weber and then twin 40mm webers.

Sure you can. Several people are running 40mm bore carbs.

And here's a fun A15:

Weber 32/36

The question is: Do you really want bigger carbs? Does your engine run more than 7000 rpm?
