I had a look at that cylinder head and its totally messed up. It looked like somebody tried to hammer in a couple of nails in 4th cylinder area. Almost like wanted to block off the valves
One good thing came of it atleast, got a number of a guy that can supply me with a oversize gasket, now if he would only anwser his phone. Thanks guys.

Measure the total thickness of the head. I don't know what the minimum thickness should be, but there are plenty on this site that will know.

If its been skimmed to much theres no point I can see in seeing how much has come off.
What you need to worry about is the cc's of the head.Which can be increased by grinding the combustion chamber.

Hi guys, I still have to give you a full report on my brakes which i'll do as soon as it is 100% complete and working.
But for now I've found the source of my ping problem and it seems replacing the cylinder head is going to be the best longterm solution + i can get a head for a very good price. Now before I rush of to go buy the thing is there an easy way of looking at the head and measuring something to know if its been skimmid too much or must I just cough up the extra dosh and get some engineers to look at. [Edit:Add] Its a A14 head with round ports and kidney shape combustion chamber. well atleast I those are the stock ones they use in SA. Thanks in advance You can view topic.
