1200 utes fall into a different category of vehicle.

you can do more to a commercial based vehicle than you can a passenger based vehicle, even if they are basically one and the same.

the NA limit for a 1200 ute is 2250cc - ish, whereas a sedan / coupe is 1800cc-ish.

It seems that down here in VIC it's a bit different. There is no black and white rule and like Mildman said it's all on a case by case basis.

They don't even use the factory weights, you have to go and get the things weighed which works out well because a CA power 1200 is usually closer to 850-900kg.

on a 13b it is classed as a 2.6 which by the qld rules is to large for any 1200 yes mazfix will blue plate it but when it comes to the crunch ur stuffed. to work out the max capasity allowed for your car take the weight of the car and times it buy 4 for n/a and buy three for turbo charged this is a base guide there are ways around this rule.

As far as I understand the 'engineering' process - doesn't the engineer do it really on a case by case basis?

I mean maybe there is a rough guideline for capacity but it is still down to the engineers discretion?

i also read something like tht you have to double the capacity then times that by how many rotors there are so it would go something like this say the capacity of a rotor is 500cc you times this by 2 which is 1000cc then there is the second rotor which you also get 1000cc from so all together there is 2000cc not quite sure if its right

I read it somewhere just yesterday, now I cant remember where it was... Its not doubling the capacity, it takes other stuff into account. But in the end the capacity is almost the same as just doubling it anyway

edit: thats just for N/A, turbo ads more again but I'm not sure how much. Someone will know

hey with the 13b do they only double it's capacity when it's turbo in terms of getting it engineered. cus MAZFIX are putting rx8 motors into 1200 utes, all street legal and they told me i can put in a 13b n/a???
