FYI - picked one up from Repco. $65.

I'll take a pic later on.

Thanks for the advice Andrew!

Thanks Andy - I rang them today seems that Gates distribute to Repco and Burson - but the girl I talked to Gates said they didn't make a belt for the CA18DET - only for the CA18...so she couldn't help me......errr riiiight.

T137R looks like the winner.

I'll get some prices from Vic this week and report back.

Here is a list of available race timing belts & the part number your require. Most car part places should be able to supply.
Cheers Andrew

mildman i have around 30 cars at my place, i could always make room for a CA 1200 if you really need to build a torana

Hehe

30 cars? Man that's out of control! Forget WA maybe I should move to Geelong!

Maybe I can build the Torana at your place?

My current car storage (Uncles farm) is about 4.5 hours drive from my place.....Geelong is just over an hour...hmmmmmm.

How many of that 30 are Datsuns?

Ah dattoman

If only I had the room to have that long list of projects you have in your signature.

My son is really keen at the moment to find an LJ Torana -ideally 2 door, but will live with a 4 door.

It's his first project car....but he's having trouble finding one - cheap that is.

Plus even if he does find it I don't know where I can put it....maybe it's time to move to WA.

The point is that maybe it isn't the best belt - maybe a Gates race belt is actually stronger than this thing....maybe the whole kevlar blah blah is a marketing lie.

And this was the conclusion I was starting to reach.

I'm not going to pay $400 for piece of mind, if it is based entirely on fraud, dishonestly and a need to manipulate the uneducated sector of the automotive market.

Don't mind being proven wrong, that was just my opinion.
