Maybe one of those temporary car ports? The tent type ones that supercheap sell?

There is a place in Perth that will make a cover up for your exact model car and ship it to your door for around $250. The thing is with this mob, that the covers are designed so that they allow air-flow and stop conditions that enables rust to form.

I have there number at work, i will post it tomorrow.

I've got it in the garage at the moment....but might need the room - was hoping a car cover was as good as the garage.

Sounding a little scary now....

My blue coupe picked up some serious surface rust (but nothing serious) after a year on the lawn without a cover - I was hoping a cover would make a difference but maybe it doesn't.

You can really only cover over the vents with plastic. And only leave the car cover on while it's sunny. When it rains, it would be better to take the cover off. Hot/wet days under a cover will kill the car in under a year. You MUST air the car ASAP after rain, because all 1200s leak I reckon

If the car is in good nick, it may last up to 18 months before the rust starts showing. I had to leave my old 1200 in the weather for 2 years, I had it under 2 different car covers, and that's why I had to start my new project. It basically died of loneliness under the car cover.

The first cover (~$90) disintegrated over the first summer.

use some of those grid girls from a previous post, would work better.

i used one on my mini with cotton fabric on the inside so it wwould not stick to the paint and apparently they breathe, but as long as air circulatesand water cant should be ok.

I'm keen to put my car under a car cover (but in the front yard) for a couple of months - what I don't want is water trapped underneath or the cover to damage the paint.

Has anyone found a car cover that its safe to leave their car under - exposed to the elements - that protects it?

No point putting a cover on it - if it will end up in worse condition....
