dont give the headlight surrounds a bad name, they are stainless too, they just need to be painted on the inside and they would be good to go

Chrome only flakes on the front and rear bumpers, also the headlight surrounds and badges, rear tailights are plastic chromed, so are coupe side vents, these can flake too.

Everything else, bonnet chrome, eyebrow mould, window squeegie moulds, roof gutter mould. is stainless steel and should be polished instead of chromed, also if you paint these peices be sure to sand to give a key cause the paint always flakes off this stuff.

Dont paint shiney parts, looks crap dude.

Sounds like you are talking about 'flash chrome' where they simply chrome plate the item. I always insist on triple plate chrome [copper, nickle, chrome] This is the stuff that really shines, & lasts a very long time. This is the way to get a show quality job.
Yes, ... it cost more, but quality jobs are almost always the best value if you're serious.

Rallycar dechromes all of his 1200s
I hate it

Bring back the vintage OLD SCHOOL
He's upset cos i wanna put the vents and badges back on my coupe
And i salvaged as much chrome as i possibly could for the sedan

If you really wanna dechrome just spray paint it. Matte black or something. Then you can take it off later when you see the light and wanna convert to bling bling

Just paint the trim. I think you would probably stuff the bonnet and guards because the steel is so flimsy as is. It would end up having ripples or warping if you tried to fold the edge and would look crap.
Do yourself a favour and make the chrome a feature of the car instead. You'll kick yourself once you have trashed the front panels of your car and have to find new ones
