Yeah I dont think you will need to cut a hole in the bonnet, as the L series engine was a factory option in the B210 (120Y) body in some markets it should be a very good fit, just get that 180B crossmember.

Several of our members ahve successfully installed L20B engines into 1200's without cutting & the engine bay of a 120Y is big enough to take a Holden V8 & Trimatic without cutting either the firewall, the tunnel or the bonnet, so see if you can come up with a 180B crossmember & the engine mounts from the engine that sat on it & start from there.

Mawler is rite on the 74 120Y,the floor and seat mounts are flat like the 1200. thay then made them with high trans side seat mount, then thay made a lump under the left side fr/seat fr/mount for a CAT CON, the so call bigger tunnel. Try making a spacer the thickness of the hight to high and bolt it betwen X/member and Chassie. Will not change body hight. X/member is lower to ground.

I found out that my motor will sit a few cm too high butI already have the L20B, I guess Ill chop a hole in the bonnet and cover it up with a scoop. Ive read everything I could find about it on the net and everyone contradicts eachother. I also "think I know" that the motor wont bolt straight in now. So Im thinking my main obsticals now is engine mounts, making room for the gear box and cross member and shorening tail shaft. Can anyone think of anything else?

NOPE - while there are TWO 120Y floorpans - EARLY and LATE models....

NOT auto and manual!...

I know that auto and manual shells differ ONLY in gearbox rossmember mounts...

ok they might differ a bit more that that.. but I know fitting a F4W60L in place of a jatco 3N71B is piece of cake...

personally i'd be trying to find an auto 120Y...

and a jatco 3N71B... I have heard that the BW35 is a a steaming turd...

maybe because chysler stuck 'em behind the 265 hemi... if your gonna bodge it... DODGE IT!...

just kidding... dodges are built like nails...

off topic I want to build a 1975 4X4 D5N (australian dodge) stepside with 35" tyres... and a 528 (factory stroked 426) hemi... but that's my "lotto" ambition!

actually the auto tunnel is larger
if you've got a manual a lot of 'massaging' is required

You heard wrong, but it's not a particularly difficult conversion. As has been said, the 180B crossmember will ease your burdens substantially & the 120Y used the Jatco 3N71B trans as did many L series Datsuns. Early Bluebirds & possibly late 200B's used the Borg Warner 35 from memory, so you shouldn't have too much drama in that department either.

All 120Y's used the same trans tunnel from memory.
