Whats your plans there? what is this going into that requires the centre to be offset so much? If I shortened either axle tube 50mm, i would then shorten the opposite one the exact same amount. Most shops wouldnt bother taking the tubes out or even bother trying to drill the welds out. There is no need. They would just cut it near the outside end near the bearing carrier. Then shorten the tube. Then sleeve the tube a little. Refit the bearing carrier and weld it all up.

not really something that should be done yourself as the axel tubes need to be heated and pressed out once the 2 welds have been drilled out
but i would also recommend cutting the mounts off as this does take a fair bit of the diff shops time, and your money and is easy enough to do yourself with an angle grinder

Yeah thanks anyway Coops. Any other recommendations for how to modify it or a company to do it?
Thanks, Philip

That's how it was explained to me by the guy who shortened my diff.....
I checked - He only cut 1 axle, but cut both tubes. but they've both been turned so I figured that's why he cut the 2nd one. So maybe it wasn't as easy as all that.. Can't think why he'd bull$hit me though. Anyway - Apologies for the bum steer.

Thanks Pigdog I thought it surely couldn't be that simple. Could people that have had the work done or done the work let me know of what they did. I need to know exactly what I'm talking about.
Thanks Again, Philip

If you cut down the long tube to suit the short axle & cut the long axle to suit the short tube, you'll end up with the correct width. correct width for what? that would mean you are only shortening the diff by 50mm, skyline diffs are more than 50mm bigger than a 1200 diff and the least you can shorten a skyline axel is something like 110mm, unless you get custom made axels or have some freak axel that doesnt go undersized im cutting the long tube down 50mm and the short one down 85mm, swapping axels and getting the long one cut down 135mm and the diff is still going to be about 20mm wider than standard 1200 size You can view topic.
