Duncan... nice set of wheels. Like you said, nice to have Enkeis, and , also very nice to have Panasports. Cool to have 2 sets of wheels. you can change them as you feel it, excelent. I hope you keep both sets.
I would get a dremmel kit and get the polishing discs and compounds. You can do the job and save unnecesary expenses. Have you ever thought about calling Panasport and asking them directly? I am sure that they will tell you what they use , since you are a proud Panasport user.

Thanks Ed,
Please let me know what you find out. Quote:
I like the Enkei rims and plan on keeping them. I also want to have that one bent lip repaired and get them cleaned up and looking good. I really dig the Panasport look, too. If you could imagine a coupe with them (and maybe Miata seats) you'd know what I was talking about

well i've done a few wheel restos, and one thing to keep in mind is that if you polish them yourself to save money, you'll be polishing them for the rest of your natural life
the way to go imo is lightly spun machined and clear coated like the factory problem is that a good shop will charge you more than the wheels are worth another option is to powdercoat them all one color, sorta like the watanabe look anyways, what's wrong with the enkei apaches? they've got that spun aluminum lip that polishes up and straightens easily, and unlike cast wheels, they won't require constant maintenance

first off I want your rims!! but I know there is a cleaner that can take off years of brake dust and grime. I know that the dealership my pop's work at has it and I've seen it work. As soon as I can I will try and find out what the name brand is.

Has anyone done any Panasport wheel resto?
I have a set for my Datto that look okay, but I want to clean them up and polish the outer edges. I would like to leave the center section "as-is" but I can't get them to clean up. Should I have them glass beaded or possibly walnut-shell blasted, or will that remove the textured material they put in the center sections? Has anyone sprayed clear on them, or should I have them clear powder coated? If worse comes to worse, I know I could metal etch and paint the centers, but I kind of like them the way they are. Any tips or experiences appreciated. ![]() ![]() You can view topic.
