mate you can put a chev in one without modifing the firewall.its all the other stuff that makes it hard,steering,suspension,exhaust,cooling.etc...
all of which you have to do if its a ca,sr of even a chev. nothings easy.

both would be equally as difficult. if anything SR would be harder as there is less
room to work with. both can be done without firewall mods though.

Depends in what way you mean. Both conversions are hard enough, but if I was going SR20 I'd cut the firewall to create room plus have a better weight distribution.
Not sure about QLD, but here in NSW it's nigh on impossible to engineer an SR20DET into a ute.

yea ive seen pics on this site with 1200's that have had the sr20 conversion and havent had the firewall modded and not much room left over though
