Well it wont be used electrically. But you might choose to use it to seal the side of the distributor.

Ah, so the small black box needs to come off of the dizzy entirely then?

It will work like that but its wrong.
In that diagram you will be using the stock ignition module to trigger the msd ignition module. Thats wrong. You need to connect the msd to the magnetic pickup inside the distributor.

Okay, based on the MSD diagram, and the FSM diagram, I think I have it figured out.
The MSD schematic: ![]() The Service book's schematic: ![]() Finished product based on first 2 schematics: ![]() Basically: -Run heavy red and heavy black to battery -Run the green and violet from the MSD to the corresponding + and - spades on the dizzy, which eliminates the black/white and blue wires currently running from the dizzy to the coil entirely. -Cut the ignition switch wire that splices into the current distributor wiring and attach that to the thin red MSD line, providing 12v switched power to the MSD -Run the thin orange and thin black from the MSD to the corresponding + and - on the Blaster 2 coil. Does this sound correct or have I fudded it up somewhere?

i used the + to the coil to power my ignition and took the - and ran it to my ignition trigger, but it also would work on mine to use the mag pick up.
if it won't take the coil trigger - then you'd have to take the ignitor off the dizzy and wire directly to the mag pickup in there. you'd use the red and green wires there, how will you get them out... dunno, i have a spare older pre ignitor dizzy i got as a replacement for when the ignitor one dies. the clack box on the side is the ignitor. speaking of ignitions.... think i killed another accel300... maybe not, but sometihng happened..

How do I correctly wire up an MSD 6A + Blaster 2 coil?

So, I've decided to run an MSD 6A ignition box and a blaster 2 coil on my car after I get the engine rebuilt. I'm reading the instructions and I'm a bit confused. The car is an '81 B310 Sunny with an A15 and a magnetic pickup distributor ( pic of my dizzy )
Here is the setup I think I would be using from the MSD instructions. ![]() I'm confused about some things. 1. It appears that the blue and black/white wires run straight from the distributor to the coil (or am I wrong?). Am I just getting rid of these wires entirely? 2. The green-violet wires are supposed to run from the distributor to the 6A. Am I just adapting these to fit onto the distributor spades where the blue and black/white + and - wires are? 3. The red wire to a switched 12v source. It says there "From ignition Key. Original coil + wire." Huh? I'm not getting the meaning there...I'm not sure that the + wire from the old coil is hooked to the ignition solenoid or switch. Or am I totally thinking the wrong thing? Help! I'm a n00b when it comes to aftermarket ignitions, so bear with me. You can view topic.
