On a lowered car, you run out of suspension travel when the strut leg is the standard length, this also means using shorter inserts.

Some people cut/weld the strut tube so you still have the thread at the top for the gland nut, some people cut the tube and retap the top (you need an engineer or machine shop to do this).

i got a set of stanza struts and a set of 120y struts/front end.

quick questuion pigdog why are yu recommending not using stanza struts? are they to big?

Stanza struts need to be shortened, they are too long for a lowered 1200, I shortened the stanza struts in my partners car with 300zx kyb inserts and havent looked back.

well, I wouldn't expect it to get rego with those -10 offset 7" wheels, bald semi slicks, no engine & box and sway bar disconnected from the chassis.

But apart from that it was engineered with that suspension setup, street driven for about 7 years and raced for 5 or 6. Why do you say it wouldn't get rego in Sydney?

The stanza castor rods are too long, ive modified 1200 ones to fit the stanza ball joint, I still need to put the LJ torana rods i have to use, they are adjustable and stronger.

LJ Torana rods just add uneccesary weight. The 1200 castor rods are more than strong enough. You can very easily modify them to be adjustable too, which is what I did with my old 1200 coupe. It ran the standard 1200 castor rods through all its years of racing and bouncing off kerbs and never had a problem. One "off" I had at Mt Cotton ripped the castor rod mount off the chassis, but the rods were still fine.

Uless you are building a rally car, there is no need for bigger heavier castor rods.
