yerr, first CA18et are single cam. CA18det are DOHC, early model CA18det have no oil cooler, CA18de out of FWD exa or RWD silvia, has no girdle, no oil squirters, other differences i have noticed, FWD, fuel rail, injectors, plenum, thermostat housing are different, and all the engine mounts. the flywheel and clutch are smaller on the fwd CA. other than that they are the same, it's easier to look for a stuffed CA18de out of a silvia and swap every over, i too have a CA18de out of an exa, that i picked up cheap. that's going in the sedan

Yeah a mate of mine got an early FWD CA for cheap too. I think that besides the manifolds, they are pretty much same.
However, Ive heard that the early CA's don't have the crank girdle. So if you were hoping to build a mega horsepower engine, (Why wouldn't you be!) an ungirlded engine isn't the way to go.
