Yep the datto smell .my datsun 120y spent a year or so in the fibreglass factory ,I was worried thefibreglass smell would of stunk the car out gave it a vac and blow out ,the datsun smell is there oh Yeah.........

i love it, getting in and breathing it in, i get in my coupe when i'm out working on it and just breathing in there reminds me of it all, and everytime i get in a datsun it brings back so many memories.

My rear main leaks a tad, so I get a whiff of oil on a hot engine at stop lights occasionally..

lol my datto ute 1984 has got a a14 in it, and when i start it up, manual choke start, the nice breeze of blue smoke filter throughout the back and rises up into the air, i use penrite 50 oil lol and refill it every two weeks. NEED NEW SEALS, ANYONE???????? when take off and have the choke on, i look like the biggest tool without as stream of blue smoke behind me.

My north american 1200 sedan has the same smell that WhiteSedan described.

If only I could get rid of the occasional gasoline smell it would be perfect. That hot-day vinyl smell is nice.

im with the each car has its own distinctive smell theory.
every zed ive owned has smelt exactly the same inside as each other, but my ute smells different.
its an awesome smell

MMM. the smell of new carpet, sparco seat foam and a hint of PULP. Makes me want to go for a drive

A couple more smells I neglected to mention...

Coolant... About my 3rd drive, the rubber heater hose in the cab split & sprayed coolant everywhere.
Not a bad smell though - It was new coolant. I managed to clean up most of it & ended up mixing o.k with the new carpet smell .

And my favourite one (can't believe if forgot this)....... Burnt rubber .

to me, the most memorable smell of a datsun is in the interior

now, if you've owned different datsuns like me, you know that each model has its own distinctive odor

a mate of mine just bought a 610, and he told me he remembered the smell

i replied, "yeah, that datsun smell," but he said, "no, i haven't smelled this since i last owned a 610, and that was twenty years ago!"

Mine stinks of that heat wrap stuff. its a bit annoying because the first time i smelt it was when i first fired the A15 into life... and the bot rad hose popped off and burnt me. So i still assosiate it with being bad.

should smell like new carpet soon... That'll be the first datto with a complete carpet set in it ive owned.
