haha I've had to drive with just extractors to the exhaust shop a few times, its fun knowing your waking up everyone within a kilometre at 7am
You get a bit of an earache after a while tho I reckon you should put the stock a12 cast manifold on and bolt up the exhaust then get the exhaust shop to fit the extractors, should only take them 20minutes longer.

Haha,
You wont want the exhaust back on after running it without - the magnificent roar of a 1400 is intoxicating!! I ran arround for a week once with the exhaust disconnected - just after I dropped the A14 in my b10. I think the neighbours got the ####s a little but i'm sure they never slept past 7!

Ok thanks.
I'll probably just run it loud!!! It's literally only like 2ks down the road. Just hope the fuzz aren't hanging about. Trav

u can either leave the extractors on and run it loud for that short distance home, the extractors obviously extend further than the stock manifold so cant bolt on to your old flange.
Or u can take the extractors off and bolt the old engines manifold and exhaust on to get it home.

So the exhaust pipe is the same but the flange wont fit???
So it won't hook up? Cheers Trav

It will run fine. A14 uses standard exhaust, same size pipe as A12.
But the header pipe for A14 has a 3-bolt flange.

Hey guys,
Quick question! I'm getting my a14 put in shortly and it has a set of extractors on it (not sure what brand, type etc) and i'm just wanting to know if it's possible for the standard exhaust to be hooked up when i get the engine fitted? I know if it does it won't run all that well but the reason i'm asking is i won't be getting a new zhorst fitted for a few weeks and just wanted to be able to drive the ute home (a very short distance) once the conversion is done and also drive it to the exhaust shop in a few weeks. I don't have a second car i can tow with and i have to ask my brother to tow me with his navara but he lives nearly an hour away and it's a bugger for him to keep coming back, especially as i've already conned him into helping me pick the engine up and also tow me up to the mechanics to get it fitted. So yeah just wondering wether the stock exhaust will hook up to the new engine in any way just as a stop gap till i can get it to the exhaust place. Cheers Trav You can view topic.
