LOL just had to slip that in

Isnt it a lot to do with the ease of importing cars into NZ, so that lots or datsuns have made their way into NZ over the years?

Trademe NZ consistently has the coolest Datsun parts. Why is that?

Great question Dd.

I think it has a lot to do with:

# geographic isolation (dev. of engineering skills)
# having a real appreciation for a wide range of cars
# a very strong motorsports heritage
# a bunch of owners who still have time after work to 'potter' around on their cars
# domination in the world of rugby

This week I was told about an original BRE LHD car existing in NZ. Nothing surprises me anymore re: what lurks in some quite plain looking sheds...

I'd love to put that in a stock as a rock 1200 (with improved brakes).

Wonder how it idles? Could only guess it'd be rough as guts .

It's a very nice engine in all ways, thanks for sharing.

Here is a great example of the fantastic work that Tony Marsh has done with the humble A series over the years. It could be argued that the best developed A series outside of Japan exist in NZ and this would be one of them. Maybe this would rival anything in Japan too??

Professionally built by Marsh Motorsport
Fuel injected
Titanium valves (Some new spares)
Roller rockers
Highly modified head etc., etc.
JE custom forged pistons (Some new spares)
Forged rods
Custom Cosworth (UK) Steel crankshaft
Crank scraper
Super trick dry sump
Stock Car Racing Dry Sump Pump (V8)
Crank timing trigger
Petersen's dry sump tank with pre-heating element
Light flywheel (Obviously)
Tilton clutch
190 + hp
No engine management computer (Motec used)
Hand fabricated extractors all ccd virtually identical
All stainless steel braided lines
Engine runs in a vacuum so no breathers on engine - only on dry sump!
Only one meeting since rebuild
Pukekohe high 66sec. (SS2000)

NZ bewdy

Of course the price reflects it's value.
