Yeah the plan was to widen the hole a little, and to have it sit a little higher than the original.

Then get a foam crash pad made up to mould over it all.

The heater switch and wiper switch need to be moved to somewhere, but thats not a biggie. Was perhaps thinging of using headlight switches and mounting them under the lights and choke switch so its even.

Its gonna be a big project, but this is really a biog thing for me. I am finally in a position where I can justify this sort of thing. My attachment to Daisy goes far deeper then I perhaps let on. I owe so much to her, that really, I am at the stage where expense is not something that i want to be a big issue. Not that its unlimited, it just means that it will take longer.

Aaron, i like the idea of backlighting it different colours. that could work.

and inverting the design 1 so that its already in the hamburger setup might work. Will have to draw some more pics.

doing the hamburger design would be cool with one the tacho back lit red and the speedo back lit blue.

but i think the design you have would have to be kinda small, and the rest of the gauges would be tiny unless you made the dash higher i guess you would say, as you don't have heaps of room to work with..

still kool design!

Why not just put a coupe dash in it and be done with it?

I can see custom dashes being very expencive! Eventualy im going to make a custom dash for the Wags. Cut a new alloy peice and fill it with 'classic' style guages.

Had you thought of using your dash design 1 but inverting the tacho and speedo to incorporate the Datsun hamburger. If you were going to use redish needles in that part you could go a red needle on top and a blue needle on the bottom to use the datsun colours.

As far as guages go

I was thinking
volts
fuel
water temp
oil pressure
boost
one more?? (intake temp??)

and speedo/tacho of course

anybody got any ideas of what the sixth guage should be.
my idea is to have an even number of guages on each side.
perhaps i should just stick all the warning lights in that corner. (low fuel, oil presssure, volts, high temp,)

I attempted to do what i want in Visio but its not really that good, but it gets the idea accross.

Was thinking white background, black text, with orange/redish needles. Could either have a big D in the middle or perhaps the Datsun hamburger image.

Any opinions??

Dundee

If you just want to get the original dash redone, call ASIAT in Welshpool The do all types of guage mods, but only to existing dash units. They wont do custom like what i want.

They can recover the original unit in white like your example and repair the PCB if its damaged.

ASIAT dont do much of the custom work now, but they can still do it. They prefer to just sell you guages.

I really like that last one with the tacho and speedo needles forming the 'V'. Very stylish, and that sort of cluster would suit a 1000 down to a tee.

Cool idea RT - it works in the Aston Martin V8 Vantage - where the speedo sweeps clockwise and the tacho sweeps anticlockwise - looks cool.

I noticed it from TDU...a computer game but with all the interiors modelled on the real thing.
