#6 Re: Anyone had this happen?

My escort used to do this all the time! It has only happened once on my 1000 wagon but it was only a little leak needing a quick tighten. The contraction and relaxation of the metal as it heats up and cools down is often enough to work thing loose let alone vibrations too! hence you should always tighten you exhaust manifold/flange nuts after 100km's and again at 1000km's.

hmm, I've never heard about that happening before but now I'll have to be mindful of it

go a big hose clamp around it once ts installed and wire it back to the engine mount ... put the clamp on and then wire it in the direction that'll stop it turning anti clockwise loosening itself ... got to make sure it's wired to someting that moves/vibrates with the engine preferably ..

Pretty bloody tight. I always do them up as tight as I can by hand.

I've heard of this happening on a-series motors, never on a CA. How tight do you put them on?

I started my car up yesterday after completeing three problem free sessions at QR only to find that the oil filter had nearly spun off and the contents of my sump were now on the ground under the car!

I couldn't believe it. I was very lucky as someone standing in front of my car yelled a warning to me and I shut it down straight away.

The filter has been on there for over a 1000kms and all of a sudden it worked loose.

Anyone had this happen to them?
Matty
