#13 Re: Does anyone have a B310 auto tailshaft they can measure?

Ahh no stress, I'll be doing some measuring over the weekend hopefully and get this worked out. 130mm shorter if thats the case for the auto is going to be absolutely perfect.

Im using an L-series with a H165 diff. The SR20 box should be the same as the L-series box anyway.

I see you have a sunny, its not auto is it?

but in the case of having the r31 diff and the sr20det. don't you think that u need to use an r31 tail shaft in the rearpart of the shaft and an s14 front part. or it is not possible to do

Stanza factory manual reports the same differences, uni-uni A/T is 1055mm, uni-uni M/T is 1185. Still dont know the difference in the overall length.

Ive got a manual stanza shaft (dogleg to H165) that I will measure up properly ie. end yoke to centre uni and flange end to centre uni.

Im not so sure, maybe the sunnys had longer auto boxes.

My factory manual definitely says the auto is about 130mm shorter, it doesnt specify where the measurement is from but it would be uni-uni, where as the B210 tailshaft only has one measurement and the yoke length changes.

I have only ever used manual ones, the only other one I have is in the car at the moment (SR20 five speed to R31 diff) = much much shorter

Fan-bloody-tastic!!

That means Im correct that the auto shaft must be shorter, the measurement given in the factory manual is only centre of uni to uni and that is 1177mm for manual and 1045 for auto.

Hopefully the overall length is shorter, have you ever had to use a auto shaft or done a manual conversion and noticed any difference?

Ok, lets see if this makes sence. I'm working front to back of a manual '81 B310 4 speed/H150.
From tip to part that bumps agains gearbox: 85mm
From that point to centre of uni: 34mm (from tip to centre of uni: 119mm)
centre of uni to centre of uni: 1175mm
centre of uni to flange mating face (diff end): 33mm
from tip to tip: 1327mm

Hope that helps.
