If you have a wirring noise only when you press your foot on the clutch, then you have a dry or dirty clutch release bearing.

If it is completely siezed, then it will wear the clutch fingers, but more than likely it's just worn/dry/dirty [inside] & it's only when it contacts the rotating clutch that the bearing rotates & makes a noise.

Try pressing on it pedal lightly. If the noise starts as soon as the free travel in the pedal is taken up, then it's the release bearing.

To fix it, you need to first be able to hold it in your hand, & you know how to do that I suspect.

If the spiggot bush in the back of the crank is dry, it makes a high pitched screaming kind of noise, sort of like a sliping fan belt.

Sounds like mine. My clutch makes this exact noise, but only as the clutch is just at the bite.

if the noise only comes on when you put your foot on the clutch it will probably be the brass spicot has been flogged out and when you put you foot on the clutch the main shaft drop out of centre an moves around in the bush hence making the noise i had this trouble about 2 wks after putting in my new clutch

if the bearing is shagged, it will wear thru the fingers on the clutch...

did you renew the throw out bearing while the box was out? Did you check to see if it is noisey and worn? Is it clipped in properly?

Because thats what it sound like

my old gearbox was stuffed so i replaced it with another just last night, didn't start it til this morning.

the gears all run smoothly, the box feels good, but now when i put my foot on the clutch it seems to make a whirring sort of noise like someones trying to whistle but can't.
this only happens as soon as i put any sort of pressure on the clutch and stays on until i release the clutch.
even when in gear it doesn't make noise just when the clutch is in.
