Cheers guys - got 155/80 13 on the car. Got stanza struts and springs in the car with orig springs in the rear.
Withs this setup I am 10mm above standard ride on the front. And exactly 100mm off ground where cat convertor is. Take this as is to engineer and see how things go. Other wise will have to look at smaller cat convertor.

I think it might have something to do with headlight height, which has to be a certain height above the ground. Simplest way to get it passed would be to get some 155/80-13's or so, then present those measurements as the ride height. Once it's passed, just put the intended wheels & tyres on it & don't get noticed too often by the fun police.

Yes the tyre size would make a difference. Running 13 inch now and will step up to 14 superlites later.
For some reason transport want to know how different the vehicle is from orig ride height. The exhaust prob is a result of the thickness of a cat convertor. Aint no real way around it. But dont realy want to lift the car. With a bit of fab on the exhaust system I could prob get 10mm though. Cheers for the measurements

It is measured from the bottom of the differential housing. So when you think about it, the tire size will make a difference...
17.0 mm ground clearance 720 mm to center of sedan tail lights 580 mm to top of rear bumper 430 mm to center of front running lights See: Datsun 1200 Measurements

The workshop manual states 17cm.
Where is this measured from? I would assume that this is from the lowest point which would probally be the exhaust. On my car it measures 235 mm from the bottom of the sill pannel ( Actually the flat surface on sill panel, parallel to to ground ) I need to know if this is close to original ride height. I am trying to get a compromise for transport rego purposes regarding the 100mm ground clearance when vehicle is fully loaded. It's bloody hard to get 100mm ground clearance with the exhaust for the CA with a Cat Convertor. I need to know if my car is currently, close to original ride height. The only measurement I can give you is from the flat edge of the sill to the ground. Can someone measure their standard 1200 please. You can view topic.
