both ends of the speedo cable are squared, put the dash side in first, and at the gearbox end and twist and push the actual cable until it goes al the way in, when you feel it go into the dash end, spin the end so it lines up with the square ends on the gearbox end, and there you have it

It is a common mistake, and its the most common reason for a speedo not to work after installation.

hope this helps!

well i took it for a drive with the cable out, it was spinning.
so does that mean i have to change my gauges?? but it was working yeterday before the cable snapped.
oh yeah and i spun the thing on theback of the speedo and the speed change. does this just mean im not conecting it right?

to test the speedo cable you could undo it from the dash and and go for a quick drive and see if the cable is spining . if yes, sounds like your dash is US
if not spinin the cable it the wronge one

hope that helps

i hooked it all up and it isnt working..the little bit that goes into the bgearbox looks different to the other one, but it fits in good. and ive tightened it on the back of the guage as much as i can..

Nah you should be able to reach up under the dash. Should only be finger tight. A light and laying upside down may help!

what gearbox? I would say yes either way tho.

Ok heres what to do

1) Unscrew the fitting from the gearbox.
2) Unscrew the fitting from the back of the speedo guage.
3) Thread the cable though the engine bay and firewall and remove.
4) Replace!
