Well no go fellas.
I tried again this afternoon to no avail. I did a few diagnostics on the HEI. All came back positive. Nothing complicated, just whether the unit was getting power etc. This is what I've done, but it doesn't want to kick over for me... ![]() This is my first kit, and it is entirely possible that I've stuffed it up somewhere along the build. Any other ideas guys? PS - Paint is fun.

haha, so it is... I really shouldn't have tried to get my point across using MS Paint at that sort of time.
but yes, you're right mate green goes to -ve coil.

You got it
EDIT: The green wire is coil -ve - that's justa typo right? If you connect that to coil +ve you'll blow the transistor!

on a standard car, the points connect directly to the coil -ve.
With this kit the connection is broken. There is a single wire which comes from the dizzy which connects directly to the points (pop your dizzy cap and have a look). This wire goes to the 'from points' on the HEI kit. Then the HEI kit goes to the coil -ve. The kit itself switches the coil now and the points are just a low(er) current 'switch' to trigger the HEI. Remember to run a new wire to your coil negative instead of the old one so that the coil is no longer connected to the points. EDIT - beat me to it

The way I would set this up is
+ve wire to the +ve terminal on the Coil -ve wire to the negative of the coil Wire from points. Would be the old -ve wire that went to the coil. Remember this box is now triggering your coil so you will have to remove the link in your old system otherwise the system just bypasses your new box and runs the standard system. The trigger from the coil (the old negative wire) is now to goto the hi ignition box as it's now telling the box when to fire in which case it sends the signal down to the coil to fire. I hope I have shed some light on this. cheeers Damian

hmm interesting...
so maybe have the 'from points' wire coming off the -coil and the -coil wire on the kit going to the wire on the back of the dizzy? is that what you meant? I'm a bit reluctant to just give it a go, as I could easily fry the ignition kit with something around the wrong way... If I haven't already that is... haha

I would have thought, to -ve coil, or to the box, to make it 'switch'...
