like phunk said, a vice or g clamps does a good job
i usually use a vice(unless im feeling to lazy to get the springs out of the car) then a big rod through the bolt hole of all the leaves to make sure they stay straight and you can get the bolt back through when your done

I used 3 big G-clamps and tightened them down bit by bit til I could get the bolt through. Ideally a really long bolt would be used as a safety measure incase a clamp broke. The first time I tried it the cheapo middle clamp snapped in half. Could have been painfull if I didnt already have the bolt in.

Threaded rod, then avice or clamp before you switch in the bolt.
A 1000s need the front mount trimmed so the eyelet can fit.

Holy crap this is a $hit fight and a half!

I have a few questions reguarding some posts.
Reversing and fliping upsidedown has been mentioned. Is this the same thing? Or is reversing going front eyelet in rear shackle?(cant see that doing much if it even works)
Does a main leaf even fit in flipped? wouldnt it foul... everywhere?

Ive had a play re-aranging leaves in the 1000. And i cant get the leaf pack down flat enough again to fit the bolt in! Do you have to use a press or what?

funny thing is you are what...my age give or take a couple of years?

Dumb arse, Luke is right you are turning out to be just like your sister Meg....considering her description of me (without even meeting me) is i am a red headed bush pig..quite immature and laughable actually! you are just an insufferable little twerp who has a temper tantrum when he doesnt get his way...just like your sister if someone doesnt tell them what they want to hear they accuse them of goodness knows how many things that actually never happend and Meg threw hissy fit when i pointed that out ..with proof..that she was quite wrong.

Going by what has been said save your self having a coronary and just get off your skinny little arse and look for people in your area and also in the Yellow and/or white pages its not that damn difficult.

I never replied to most of your PMs ages ago coz i felt you couldnt be F'd looking for things your self.

Dont go off calling someone and idiot or saying someone is sucking up to someone else and do go be difficult and ignorant and arrogant...oh thats right too late for that one.

anyway you said you want a "spare set" to practice on incase you get defected...dont u even realise that Cops do actually read over these and many other car forums and can hack into your system and get your details and get you defected so easily? you dont wanna get defected yet you want to try and do something that so many people
have already told you is dangerous and unpredictable and just downright crazy feel free to go and do it your way kill yourself or someone else or hurt someone by doing something you OBVIOUSLY have no f'ing clue on how to do it and if no one is going to help you on here then odds are that its needed to be done by a professional and if you dont want a professional to do it right and do it right the first time and you wanna be a cheap arse ...DONT F'ING DO IT its that damn simple.

I'm glad Steve said I wasn't sucking up to him, all we were doing was agreeing with one another.

All I was stating was that it'd probably be best to talk to someone personally, not over the 'net. Pigdog is a clever bloke, but what if his ideas don't suit your application? Will you call him an idiot?

There is a lot to consider in this mod. The type of engine, transmission, overall weight, positioning of components, etc, will dictate the best suspension setup. You also need to consider what your car will be primarily used for, street, drags, circuit. You cannot simply just apply someone elses idea used in their application and expect it to work for yours, that has been the ongoing theme for this thread.

I've never jumped on your case before 'coz I thought you were a decent enough bloke, but you're starting to turn out like your sister. You ask for help but can't take advice that differs from your original idea, same reason people had a problem with her. No one is trying to shoot you down, if you don't agree with what their saying let it slide and just take on board what you feel helps you.

Demojoke, I dont beleive anyone sucked up to me.
So when will we get the pleasure of seeing photos of what you are able to do when not pulling your dick?
Please feel free to look at the photos in my album to see what I can do.
I find it fukking funny you still asking for a step by step guide. Why cant you work it out on your own if you so hands on. I wonder
