which supra box are you talking about? The W55/57/58 or the R154? The R154 (from 1jzgte I believe) is massive but a lot of the toyota guys reckon they are completely overrated. I'm not sure how much stronger a W5X (from lots of older toyota 4 and 6cyl motors) would be compared to a CA/SR box.
I reckon go though some magazines or something and see what boxes the big power CA18s are running.

thats the problem i guess. i want a car that can do a bit of everything. daily duties, test and tunes and the odd curcuit bash. it has a single plate organic clutch and a strong pressure plate so shouldn't be to harsh.

i had toyed (pardon the pun) with the idea of a supra box too but that seems to be an expensive excercise, bellhousing/new tail shaft.

anyone tried this route??

Yep rb25det gearbox is bigger and will not bolt up to CA/SR. 350whp is doable on a CA18det gearbox as long as you don't try to run a twinplate or equivalently harsh clutch.

depends on the RB gearbox I think. From what I've read the RB20DET 5speed is basically the same box as the ca18det/sr20det used. The rb25det box is bigger, but the bellhousing may not (probably wont) bolt up.

I've been led to believe you can fit the ca bellhousing/front section onto an RB gearbox.

guys and girls

i have a ca18det with the standard five speeder in my 1200 coupe. i expect to make around 350 rwhp and have been told the gbox will not handle this. i don't want to convert to an auto, what 5 speeders are able to take this power that will not require me to cut the tunnel?

has anyone tried different boxes? i was thinking the alloy supra five speeder might work...any suggestions?
