yeah - and it's even easier here in SA if you hang on to the registration renewal. You can have the car off the road as long as you want, grab the renewal number off the form and re-register online with just a $15 fee to adjust the date! No need to even go in to the RTA at all!

Damn thats awesome!

Dont even need to pay rego when your doing a resto. Just dont get it defected and just re-rogo it when youre done!

You have it TOO easy

We only have to put them through the pits for full inspection if they get defected. You need a chassis and engine no. inspection if you get a car from interstate, other than that just register and drive. I just walked in and registered my first 1200 after it had sat in a shed for 5years.

ahh right we must be the only state now that still has safety certificates instead of PITS.

Thanks for the clarification, its hard enough knowing what the rules are in your own state let alone another one :P hahaha

yeh we dont have certs. If it passes the pits it stays 'passed' untill it gets defected or you dont pay the rego one year and it runs out.

What do you mean you dont have roadworthy certificates over there? Dont you need a roadwortyhy certificate when you register your car?

Anyway i was under the impression if you get defected like I did, i did not get a yellow sticker on my car, then all you need to do is hand in a roadworthy. However if you received a yellow sticker then you need to produce your car for a full inspection?

they will definately not let a car through with rust in the floor.

carpet must be in good condition, altho if not installed then they can't defect you for that.

wiring must be secure, otherwise removed. not having a stereo is not a factor.

you need a rear view mirror and driver side mirror only here in VIC.
