I've actually been blessed; I own a Hillman/sunbeam/chrysler/talbot Avenger, called a Plymouth Cricket over here. The chassis has around 400,000mi on it and the engine had 200,000mi when it leaned out.
I put a stuck 150,000mi engine in it that had been left out in the rain, sanded the cylinder walls wit h80g sandpaper and put it back together with the original headgasket. That engine still runs in my spare car. In '97 I bought an '81 210 with a fresh engine and put the A15 60 series 5 speed in it. I broke the oil pressure sender off at 39,000mi so I found a brand new crate A14 which is in it now and runs perfect. The only lucas related problem I've had is the headlight switch.

yeah- I saw this episode when I was in the UK in 2006. I'm not entirely sure it wasn't a repeat even then, but it is certainly a classic episode! They sold both of those here!! I own a 72 1200 Wagon, a friend owns the first sunny ever imported to the uk, a 1000, and another friend has a vb10. All UK cars. Clarkson has a soft spot for the 120Y for some reason. Good on him for it :)

Does anyone have the torrent link to this chapter. So far the only 120y I have seen is when Jeremy said he went to japan to test the new 120y but instead they show the new nissan GTR, I was a little bit dissapointed but that skyline is my dream car.

Not sure if SBS is going to keep running the UK version whilst the Austrailian version is running, they're just repeats from 5 years ago at the moment only time will tell.

Supposedly there is going to be cross-over comentary during the track tests on the show so at least that's there. I don't think they are going to keep running it in the uk becasue what could they test? they've possibly done everything including diss my most favourite Countach on multiple occasions

just to let people know the aussie top gear is on soon, this is taken from there web site :
Top Gear Australia - Series 1 Launches Monday 29 September at 7:30 pm SBS TV If you thought the Brits had done it all with Top Gear - wait until you see Top Gear Australia. In the first episode of an eight-part series, hosts Charlie Cox, Warren Brown and Steve Pizzati play hard with all-wheel drives on sand and snow. There is a glimpse of the new LP560 Lamborghini Gallardo super sportscar, a test drive of the latest Porsche 911 and an altercation with some Great White Sharks.

Quote: by kue1000 on 2008/8/1 12:08:08 british cars used to be very good, the old man has quite a few 50's daimlers (think big luxo cars) they're actually quite reliable - i guess one of the big factors is that they came before all british manufacuters started using bosch electrics! Nah- your not biased... Bosch stuff if first rate! The Germans can not be compared to the crap built in the UK! The dark ages electrics used in many of the old UK cars was LUCAS ![]() My old BMWs have never had any problems, and they are all Bosch. Also most Nissan stuff is either Bosch or Denso knockoffs of Bosch. Daimlers are hand built Jaguars, so yeah - they would certainly have the best of British workmanship in them, so they should be good. Those 50's ones are often V8's too... NICE!!
