Yeah i dont want shares in the company. paid $1850 for my 1200 coupe with A14, standard pattern 5spd, Electronic dizzy, 21/2 inch exhaust, modified bluebird front struts stanza brake booster, HQ holden radiator with modified radiator support panel and custom Aluminium overflow tank, minimal rust mainly in removable panels and lowered 2 inches all round on TRX Wheels Good interior just needs tidy up and wiring needs tidy up Half done already. So they can put that gearbox in the shed for 10 years and try again i reckon. Still appreciate the tip off revhead

I'm with converted. I just bought a 120Y wagon with L20, 5spd, stanza struts and BW diff, that runs great for less than this gearbox is going for.
its funny when the 63 L series 5spd is only worth about $150 because its the weaker box. just buy an L series 63 5spd and the motor its attached to and put that in your 1200, and still have heaps left over for other go-fast bits.

For the Datsun "purists" as the lads like to be referred to won't put anything in that is not datto. I had a 63 behind my L and it took a beating. I replaced it with a R30 box and 2nd is not doing flash. I'll agree that $1200 is steep but when 60 series are pulling $1K plus then it seems like a bargain given the actual difference. And easier to get parts for at this stage anyway.

I would prefer to spend a sh!tload more money on a datsun item, rather than putting anything from another manufacturer in my car. so you wouldnt put a quaife or a hollinger box in any of your cars? 63a's are only an L series box adapted for an A series. Personally as good as they are (and they are good boxes) i dont think they are worth that sort of money. In racing you put in whatever gearbox is goona suit your car/racing....

That box is only a 60 series and it is at the time of this post at $700. The 63a is basically an L series box for an A series. There is no better factory box. USA 5 speed

Once I got quoted $800 to ship a box from US&A. Now that I work for a mob that ship geargoxs to US&A I should get a quote.
