Re: ca18 in datto with aircon?
Posted on: 2008/9/22 12:22
im in the midst of a series one from a sunny onto the 1200, then once working can transplant to the L series as the bracket is on the same side and almost same location.
It would be doable, just a matter of getting a air condensoer small enough but big enought to be effective. Bout 30cm by 25 is smallest i would get, min witll be about 25 by 40 id guess

hi frank
i was thinking of doing that but they all told me i would have no room for intercooler but you could go air/water ( i have one off a subaru ). perth ute just sold a 120Y factory air con system complete. that would be a really tidy setup. sunny setup would be 2nd best choice. i dont think anyone has actually done this yet?. sorry i'm not much help dazza

You'd have to keep stock turbo and piping. And not run a front mount if you wanted to keep a/c. It also adds at least 25kg to the engine weight. 16kgs in the compressor bracket ..at least..
If you want torque (and a/c) in a 1200..put a smaller v6 in and forget the turbos. If you want an all out ball tearer CA18 in a 1200 ..you gotta do without A/C. IMHO.
