has anyone here put an r series..... ie 18r 18rg or 22r into their 1200 and what were the major dramas associated.

Got a 4A-GE in a running car will sell cheap minus the parts i need to fix me other one. Panels and trim.

18r-gu good engine late ones are efi
3t-geu good bit rare but 4a-ge good too ca18 better must use nissan box unless you can TIG weld like me dazza

5 spd availabilty and aftermarket options are far broader on the toyomotors.... a lot more straight bolt on goodies.

in my opinion just stick with the nissan/datsun engine, you can't go wrong!
