also depends on tyres, ride height, rim style, camber, castor, and how baller you are

The 'best' offset depends on the wheel width... you want the wheel to fit inside the fender, but not hit the springs.

which is the best ofset for a 1200

"Track" is center of left tire to center of right tire.

Yes, the tire center will always line up with the wheel center, regardless of the wheel offset. The wheel flange is usually not on the center line.

thanks

yeah, i know what offset is and this is one of the drawings i'm talking about. i know i'm spliting hairs but i'm dealing with small tolerances as stated.

the dist. b/n the "rim width" dimension lines and the front and rear flanges are different. and if you apply a ruler to the drawing the centre line appears equidistant to the flanges not the rim width.

thanks

yeah been there done that.

qualifier here is that i know the present offset. which is why i asked how to get it. i've tried measuring it but it doesn't seem very accurate and i'm working with low tolerances and there doesn't seem to be any markings on the rims.

they are 15x6 6mm spacers on front clearing the strut by 2mm, 8mm on rear clearing spring by 10mm. front track is outside by 8mm if measurement is correct and rear is inside by 15mm.

This will help explain rim offset.

hi all. newby at this so forgive my ignorance.

looking at new wheels for my 1200 ute as present wheels are on spacers and front and rear track are also not right.

maybe a silly question but in terms of measuring track and working out offset, does the centre line of a rim line up with the centre line of a tyre? it's just that on some drawings i've looked at the size of front and rear flanges appear different.

also, whats the best way to find out the offset of the present rims?

thanks any assistance appreciated.
