#7 Re: What driveshaft behind sr20 into 1200

any one piece bluebird tailshaft will do the job, or a stanza tailshaft if they are one piece

and if using r31 rear end i think a manual r31 tailshaft would be the go as they have massive unis but are 2 piece so will need to pay for the new bit of pipe

the silvia driveshafts are only good for getting the spline off the front as they are two piece.
So like Rally said either get both ends and get the them fab'd onto a new middle or try and find a one pice drive shaft that has one end correct that is too long and get it shortened and the other correct end put on at the same time.

its not a silvia drive shaft for sure since the sr has a longer wheelbase. and what do they use when they plan a 500 or 600 break dato.

I know what your saying but I have neither so I figure if I have to buy both ends one of them might as well have the rest of the driveshaft attached.
I'm either going to buy a commondore driveshaft (to match my borgwarner diff) and get an sr20 spline or if there is a nissan/datsun one piece driveshaft that goes in the sr box i'll get that and get a borgwarner yoke. Then just get the driveshaft shortened and the new end put on.
Probably the first as that will probably be the easier route, commodore bits are easy to find.

I was more interested to know if someone had found a nissan/datsun 1 piece driveshaft that went straight in the end of the sr box.

people always ask these questions......... but what the hell does the length of a bit of tube matter......

get the right connection for box and diff and your tailshaft guy will cut a bit of tube to fit in between.......

why not use a new piece?????

I've been wondering the same thing, I'm about to get a drive shaft made up. I was hoping there was a nissan ute with a nice long 1 piece drive shaft that used the same front spline that would go straight in the sr gearbox, then i'd just have to get it shortened and the diff's yoke put on.
Anyone know? All the utes i've looked at seem to have 2 piece drive shafts.

Just wondering what driveshaft people are using behind there sr20 in their 1200's. Still planning on using the H165 at this stage
