thanks for your help, i actually have an early ('71) ute that i was trying to sell, but i will use it as a donor for motor and all running gear, plus the spare sets of 120Y discs i have. also, do you recommend going with 120Y electronic ignition instead of the a12 or a10?

yes you can adapt 120y brakes to the 1000 by using the 120y hub it bolts right on
the 56a should bolt in with no mods
1200 diff is the same unless its a late model ute diff
they can be adapted but you need flares or fwd offset wheels
im selling a ute diff thats been modded to suit 1000 so itll bolt right it and also has disc brakes

so if you can change the 1000 drums to a 1200 drum, because 120y discs will fit the 1200, does that mean you can fit the 120y discs to the 1000? sounds silly, but just double checking.. also, the 1200 diff will fit the 1000? what about gearbox? sorry with the questions, thought it would be easier than opening another topic..

need to do the rubber seal as well, they are a problem blow out easily under hard braking. I paid about 40-50$ for a pair of wheel cyls from an independent brake place.

i have had no probs at my local parts store for wheel cylinders. they are only about $18 each but they are the cheap ones or u can get urs re sleeved for about $50-60 each. i recon if u sleeved it they would last longer as they use a stainless steel sleeve

Last I checked rear are still in stock most places but front need to go to repco
I think back ones r about 20 bucks and front 25-30 mayb that was about 6 months ago

I have heard the bluebird 411 backing plates can be used to upgrade to bluebird s3 rear drums for the front and back or a 1k and then the 260z alloy finned drums just slide on to replace the cast iron ones.
This is second hand information from Gordon Dobey whos done up many race 1k in his heyday so it might be worth looking into to save money by using cheap and common wrecked datsun/nissan parts.
