Re: Wanted to Buy- Weber 32/36 choke linkage

My advise is if you manualise your choke, It's critical that when the choke is on, the butterflies can flutter. Otherwise the engine wont be able to get any air, and it'll run crap. People always try to manualise the auto chokes on valiants. I've lost count of the number Of vals I've seen with choke cables added to. they were alway hard to start. The water chokes on the cortina webers have a bimetalic spring. (Much like the vals had) they enable the butterfly to flap. (Especially while cranking) I even utilised the spring on my old weber to keep this feature, when I manualised my choke.

i just went down and checked sam, and unfortunatly i dont even have any form of choke on mine either, sorry i thought it did. if you dont end up finding anything maybe we could both look into converting the falcon setup, even if it is a pain in the a$$ of a setup.

what about adapting a setup off an xd-xe 6 cylinder falcon weber? is that what you are after, it runs off coolant temp from memory, if your getting stuck for winter you could allways borrow my one off my weber, (i think its mechanical but ill have to double check) because im in the middle of painting the 1200 its on, and it wont be done for a while yet, definatly not through winter. that would do until you found one
cheers kurt

I'm in Bathurst NSW so -5 degrees celcius is about to become the norm in the morning, me thinks i will be needing the choke. I have tried life without it, tried a few squirts of aerostart to kick things into gear, works well but why would i do that every morning.
The choke plates are in the carby, i just have no mechanism in place to actually control them, ie no linkage from the choke shaft to connect the choke cable to. Still looking for something

doesn't seem to need it, as it starts and runs fine without it. My twin-sidedrafts have no choke. It starts OK. In cold weather I have to pump it extra. If I give it enough throttle it'll start up and not die. Too much throttle, whoops, don't want to rev it over 2000 RPM for the first 10 seconds... 32/36 doesn't need linkage for electric choke. Just remove the water choke, and put a Datsun, Ford or Weber electric choke (un-modified) on it. Wire it to the coil. Done.

This is very true. I removed both my chokes. Try it without the choke. You may be surprised.

I have just fitted one of these carbies to my a15.
The previous owner of the carb had taken the choke butterflies out. It doesn't seem to need it, as it starts and runs fine without it. have you tried running it without the choke? cheers Bruce You can view topic.
