Yeah I was actually referring to the sender operating on a different principle in a mechanical gauge to the electrical one.

I was wondering if the mechanical sender was more reliable than the electrical one in a general sense, but, as you point out the electrical sender in my car is over 30years old, and thats definitely not bad in terms of reliability.

Good news that a replacement sender will be easy to find and senders of that type are not limited to A series engines.

Many of us are your 35 to 40 year old electric Temperature gauges that have never stopped working. How much more reliable could you ask for?

That may be due to a bad sender. Your gauge is probably fine. Just replace the sender, most Datsun and some Nissan use the same sender.

I dont actually know if there's a difference. I just know my electrical one is giving false readings and I have a feeling that a mechanical one would be more reliable than an electrical one.

Yes, you need to obtain the appropriate plumbing fittings.

i found they didnt, thats why used the t peice option in the top hose, that way i run both temp guages too.

Removing the head is not required. Use vice-grips and twist it out. I have had to do this only many A12 engines.

Or use an easy out.

I understand ,the electrical sender is broken and stuck inside , i think i may need to remove my head from the gasket to take it off,that is what thought of a different stuff, any way thanks for the replies,refer this post

Sumith, you can remove the electric sender, and then screw in the mechanical guage line. It's that easy.
