Yes, use the set that matches the head. The block gaskets are all the same.

So, If I am using an 81 block with an earlier H72 head, would I use a gasket set for 75-79 engines? Dave

I take it you are in USA?
The A14 came in 1975, that's why it says 1975- up. The 1981-1982 engines have different size intake ports. See http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawi ... l-Oval_Shrouded-port_Head

I see gasket sets that are listed for 75 to 79 A series engines. Will they work on an 81 engine? What is the difference?
