are the castings for a series heads still around? Definitely. They are still producing new A-series engines, at least they were in 2009. They stopped A14 production in 2007 so only the A15 is left (as far as I know). The A-series is manufacturered by Aichi. But the castings with the raised ports were only used for works and semi-works competition engines. Who knows where those molds are...or the GX molds...

i shudder at the thought of someone now knowing they have a competition head and throwing it out for $10 of scrap alloy.
once they are gone they are gone. On that topic, are the castings for a series heads still around? perhaps if they arent selling them anymore then the castings could be up for sale at the right price to the right person.

I would suggest that very few were ever sold & that the chances of someone having one unknowingly would be fairly slim.
Still, stranger things have happened. P.S. Click on this link to compare your port sizes with this.

Tell her that she should buy you a new one in the big smoke while she is away because you miss her terribly & you're worth it. you know, she is probably thinking the same thing knowing her.... that head of ferals is a nice bit of gear. i wonder how many people have unknowingly possessed such a thing and been none the wiser. it would be hard to tell with an untrained eye.

Oh you're a sad case mate, no camera & she shot through with hers. What a bummer. LOL.
Tell her that she should buy you a new one in the big smoke while she is away because you miss her terribly & you're worth it. Anyway, this is the second best piece of A series porn that I know of. [No. 1 is the AY head] This is Ferals Factory Comp head & it belongs with his all out A13 race engine. Forget the roller rockers & check the inlet port bulges in the top of the head. Apparently they restricted the long distance race engines to about 10,200 rpm to ensure reliability. As always, click on the image for a larger view. ![]()

it IS her camera!! i lost mine somewhere along the way.
i can say unequivocally that the ports have been unmolested.

Tell her to buy her own camera, you have more important stuff to photograph.
Better still, buy another camera & give her the lesser one of the two. I never measured port sizes, once you know what these heads look like you don't really need port sizes for identification [most times]. Without actually seeing it I can only suggest that if the ports are noticeably larger than the published numbers, & if it isn't a factory competition head, then I must presume that it has received some work in that area.

haha, no, its not that datsun competition.
id take some pics, but my girlfriend has taken the camera to Brissy for the next 2 weeks. wiki mentions nothing about 39mm ports.

OK, you know the drill, clean it, photograph it, then post them up.
It doesn't exist without some photo's [LOL] Feral has a Datsun competition [factory race] head & the inlet ports actually bulge into the rocker chamber. I doubt that you have one of these but if you do, then I am on my way to your place to save you from making a terrible mistake [like keeping it for yourself] These had even larger ports than the GX but were intended for engines that lived in the 8,000 to 10,000 rpm range. Other than that, I got nothing.

ok, im glad you turned up.
now , why would it have unusually large ports? im 100% sure they havent been modified. also, just to be definitive, the only difference between a gx head and an a12t head is this oil passage? everything else is the same? You can view topic.
