#35 Re: Datsun A series turbo manifolds -- register interest

yes,
sorry about the major delays, iv been getting smashed with school and trade school and what ever else.
just to make sure everyone is aware the manifolds will fit with a standard inlet manifoldbut im now back at school so i have a fair bit of spare time on computers.
i am going to be redesigning and making two different manifolds only because of the interest i have has so far with the first design. The first manifold does have a divider between the collector, the way it was fabricated is with a weebbing in the middle joining the two pipes to the diameter of the t25 flange. (will provide pics)

i am also going to be making some up with all 4 pipes meeting at the collector as D has suggested although these will be of higher expence as there is more fabricating and time required (price yet to be confirmed)

just waiting on the pressure pipe bends so fabrication will begin as soon a possible
1000 manifolds will be on the way very soon have already sorted out a design and it will be similar to a top mount.
thanx Dan

Any news on these? Cheers

I just want to help not step on anyones toes and I can only thank what Sikyne and Jmac with
Simons handy work making manifolds for me and others at his workshop really hitting home.
Just using a separator will make that a T intersection like hitting a wall dead on.
Turbulence will reduce efficiency overall more than 5-10 per cent claimed to around 25%.

With a little rotation and grinding off the 1 and 4 bends the 1 and 4 collection points
meeting the flange will be more angled relieving the T instersection effect.

The other option is the true and tried TOPGEAR manifold which is the ultimate and very little use of material also but ultimate flow.
When I say True is that from 33hp at wheel it improved to 128hp almost 4 times improvement.
Even that manifold could be improved if you look at the picture

A.
types of bends in blue circles can be 1.2,3 and 4 (1 is square, 2,3 bends and 4 straight pipe)

B.
The white arrows are where you can rotate 2 and 3 bends down at that point then number 4
can be a straight pipe and also allow more inlet manifold clearance (indicated in green).

Pieces total excluding flanges: 4 square, 4 bends and 2 straight.

definately interested, just need a few more details on 1000's fitment and price

I agree with you D.. there is room for a little improvement! Would be worth the effort. I build headers and turbo manifolds for a living.. and I for one know that they are not always an easy task.. Good on ya for givin it a go mate! I know lots of people that dont have the balls to pick up a welder and grinder and get stuck into it!! good on ya! nice ute by the way

Id would be keen on one too gylezy if they fit into a 1000 engine bay.
I too am heading down the turbo, injected big block path into the humble 1k.

If you can get some pics of how it fits in the engine bay like Dattoman_1000 suggested that would be great.

Let us know when you test one on a 1000 ... and show pics of it in there

Remember theres a couple of different engine positions and block heights... so don't base it on a A10 block

Cool. I'm definite and Scott is a big maybe.

Mate found major rust in my boot (spare wheel well) today, heard you like to kill rust? Gimme a buzz when you're free.

ok so this is what i have so far;

Greendog
JarrydsNIZ12
Lethal_John - 1000 engine bay dependant
Tongy 1 possibly 2 ??
estyre ???
Clyons 8
Scotty
just waiting on the pipe bends boys then ill start to fabricate them, i go on school holidays at the end of this week. it should all hopefully roll on fairly quickly.

if i have missed you out please contact me via pm, relpy here or sms/call me.
cheers
