Well i just wanted to start my own thread to track the progress on my new automobile.
To give a quick rundown of what i am starting with the car is a 1976 120y GL Sedan. Was originally Auto but the previous owner converted it to manual. Engine has been rebuilt approx 8000kms ago with oversized pistons, fully balanced bottom end, ported and polished head with a new mild cam. Has a small set of extractors with a pretty tame 1 and 3/4 inch exhaust system. Intake is standard with just a little sports air filter. Clutch replaced with new sports clutch when engine rebuilt and new larger alternator added to accomodate the stereo. Which brings me to the interior. It has all original trim which is in just about as good a condition as you can get. All seats and door cards are 100% clean with no stains or rips. Carpet has been replaced right through the car and boot. Roof lining is spotless. 95% of rubbers are perfect and all glass is great. Has a little stereo with Kenwood deck, jbl 6x9's and 12 inch sub in boot running off jbl 4 channel amp mounted securely in the boot. Has sports steering wheel and gear knob. All suspension and shocks are standard except for front springs which were replaced approx 3 years ago but at standard height. Diff is standard H150. Brakes are standard disc front and drum rear. Car has been resprayed approx 18 months ago in the original baby blue colour. Suprisingly good spray job too. Not the greatest prep job me thinks though as the usual rust spots in the bottom of doors are just starting to show. Nothing extensive though and the rest of the body, chassis and boot is clean as a whistle. There is a very very tiny ding in the F/D/S guard and on the boot, but barely noticeable and easily fixed. Engine bay was not resprayed with the rest though. All chrome is 110% and front grill is perfect. It is sporting 16 inch starcorp 5 spoke mags which actually look quite good for 'modern' style rims. So yeah this is what i am starting with. I have to use it as a regular driver for atleast the next 6-12 months so the mods are not goin to be extensive for that period of time, which is good as it gives me time to fix up a few small things such as: - Lower the thing!!! Definately needs an 'altitude adjustment'. Planning on putting king spring lows on the front and then getting the rear leafs reset properly. - Get the 2 small digns removed. - Slap on a nice little 32/36 webber carby. - Get some better extractors and exhaust system, probably no bigger than 2 inch though. - Get driver and passenger door rubbers replaced as they are starting to show their age a bit. - Electronic ignition. That will probably be enough for phase one. Have more plans for phase two, including rust repair, engine bay respray, and a14 twin carb engine transplant with T50 5 speed box conversion. This will be a while down the track though. Will keep you updated! : ) Trav Attach file: 21954_325752452082_754842082_3737049_2978920_n.jpg (67.08 KB) 21954_325752477082_754842082_3737050_8295388_n.jpg (51.07 KB) 21954_325752487082_754842082_3737051_6452777_n.jpg (65.04 KB) 21954_325752492082_754842082_3737052_256541_n.jpg (74.00 KB) !BlBp+HQBmk~$(KGrHqIOKiYEtk04ueFnBLZ9,kQQZw~~_3.jpg (54.94 KB) !BlBqhrwBmk~$(KGrHqIOKk!EtkE!UVNtBLZ9gImZ+Q~~_3.jpg (44.59 KB) !BlBqJ2QB2k~$(KGrHqYOKigEtlH3QyZMBLZ9cZrO7!~~_3.jpg (57.96 KB) !BlBqYj!CGk~$(KGrHqYOKjYEtlwqQhCOBLZ9eivV-w~~_3.jpg (55.71 KB)You can view topic.
