I was having a chat to my boss's yesterday and most importantly about what was talked about in reguards to the AY head and weather or not it would be a worthwhile venture to reproduce it or even tackle the AZ head design. The end result was basically if the interest is there and not just bullsh!t internet jibber and at least 20 units were a definate sale then it would be a viable project. Naturally a heat to copy would be more than difficult to obtain, unless the full origional scale drawings could be obtained.

But it would be best to use something that can be easily modified. Preferably something that runs a belt driven camshaft. So, what head is a suitable canditate?

Not true. The owner is still here and he's been here for a while now, I guess he'll speak when he's ready.....or not.

The speedway engine builder that you are confused with was the original builder of the engine although he wasn't the first to do it he was probably the best at it and most familiar with the combo. He came on here selling some pretty interesting equipment and he was laughed at when he quoted his power figures he was developing from his A12. I don't think anyone really listened to what he had to say.

The sale was put up here on a couple of threads.

That was a good buy, $750 from memory and it was a mammoth load of parts.

Mindblowing stuff Tom, the AE hybrid was sold on ebay as some would know
with all the other A series bits (some very valuable) for pittens not long ago.
Unfortunately the new owner was flamed on this site and wont venture here no more.
Im not surprised that in high comp, high revs it will need new pistons for its
narrow angle hemi head but in a recent speedway A series sale the owner confesed
he is after the E series now cause theres another 40-50hp available possibly more.

I now have SURFCAM files for the E Series head on A series block, also later this month I'm picking up AE hybrid stuff from one of the people who ran them. I don't know if I'll manage to get it all put together, I've also talked with the engine shop that built them and they have some stuff left (don't know what yet, parts list on the way). If I do manage to get one put together I will naturally post everything. What I do know so far on AE motor is it involved , modded block, custom pistons & head gasket.

What I like about the bishop rotary is that its modular so 4 pieces
for a four cylinder, problem is that its a 93.5cc unit in the picture.

Great and very sad Article, in the end Bishop will be just a memory.
Unless he builds one for the SR20DE and 2JZ followers :)

No head gasket is impressive. Heres a photo comparison with slk 4 valver

Michael I got a price for 4500aud and said no thanks but
willing to offer 1500 aud for the bare motor no electric
pump or other hardware just the e15 head on a decked a12
block with a14 crank, a10 rods and front timing bits.
He sold that engine and all his a series go fast gear for
under 900aud not long afterwards :(

To ad to the pain the new owner was mistreated or something
on this forum and wont go back on now to let us now the ins
and outs of the conversion :(((

Aiden, Theres alot involved in adapting a twin cam head you
best look at using the pushrods on an AY-like head but with
and extra inlet valve much like the latest Mercedes layout
with one inlet valve having a smaller diameter for better
swirl and highly angled inlet ports. You can have the inlet
port face high enough that the rocker cover is just a lid
over the top with some hinges all unitary. Its a little extra
billet but well worth the effort if its for yourself.

even better....RVH

Yeah the very tall head AZ apparently was never made. I spoke to an enthusiast in Japan and he said it had been built. I couldn't find much more after that.

I have a full design here for a cross flow head, it's still in development but the basic format and layout is fairly resolved.
