I had the tricky stuff done by my dad. The L series box cost me $90. I paid $300 for the A series box which wound up being only good for the bellhousing.

regarding the conversion that A14force did, how much did it cost you? and I'm guessing you did most the work yourself?

I've done it. BUT, you need to turn down the input shaft as the L sereis input ID, is bigger than the Spigot bush OD of the A series. Plus it needs a bit cut off the end too, as the L series input id longer than the A series one.

Yes, that 63A only fits L-series engine.
You need 63A for A-series engine. The Datsun 1200 auto driveshaft fits it. If you find a broken 63A for A-series you *might* be able to swap the front casing. No one has actually tried this.

there was no 1600 a series or a series stanza so it hasto be L
