Re: Anyone have Solex Mikuni Sidedraught Jets to Lend/Sell?

Packed the sloppy throttle arm with small bits of foil to take up the excess play and a decent dose of lubricant so it(the foil) wouldn't grip too much on the ball and affect throttle return or adjustment. This should suffice until I can get to the shops for a new linkage.
Gylezy came around and balanced them for me using a piece of fuel line. His trick was to set an absolute baseline and work from there. Sounds simple but it isn't, I'll elaborate later. He did a fricken' good job. I still suspect the pump nozzles are too big, and the pilots and idle screws could do with some attention. But for now, she's a road-going car packing an arsenal of carburetted datto power.

Hang onto those for dear life, there is nothing like a good library of jets and carby parts. You are lucky Dellortoes in comparison are the cheapest and easiest to get parts for.
They'd probably be too big for my needs though as it seems my jets are big as it is.

I have a few jets, emulsion tubes and other bits but mostly off 1.8-2lt alfa's.

Nah Nige, I doubt it (but I haven't checked I suppsoe I should).
But in most cases, the big carb manufacturers don't like to share much, which is a shame really considering they most probably copied off each other.

Yeah that's a good un'. Whitesedan and I were talking this over just the other day as he borrowed my sytec top mount setup (magard style) and used that sort of bridging linkage with a balancing screw between the two.
He insisted that it can be made out of a couple of stock hitachi carbs, I completely forgot about this. I'll give that a go and ditch the second arm. I'd like to try Webers and Dellortoes one day just to get to the bottom of which is best. For Solex/Mikuni's, I like the; - Built in vacuum feed lines, easy to route to dizzie could be used for synchronizing(?) - Plastic fuel bowl floats- less likely to break, cheaper to replace. - Facet pump design easily adjustable - split pin & 3 holes on the end of the connecting rod for macro adjustment + threaded connecting rod for micro adjustment. - Starter disc/cold start mechanism; these are located on top of the carb secured by a circlip/e-clip and can be easily checked whislt carbs are fixed. What I don't like; No access cover over the progression holes, subsequently the carbs have to be removed to inspect them. Pain in the arse to tune. Parts are difficult to source, I resort to a US supplier.

I'm running a bprojetcs manifold so the mounts for the throttle shaft are built in, so I can't use the independent ones you have shown up there ^ The issue I have is the arms that connect the throttle lever (sitting on the shared throttle shaft) to the individual carb throttle shaft itself. It has the two little sockets each end and a couple of adjuster nuts on it. Yeah, well one of those is a little sloppy so it's a little difficult to tune around. Tomorrow I'm going to try and reduce the pilot jets to see if they affect the early acceleration, if they don't I'm banking on it being the carbs out of synch and the pilot screws not quite as good as they should be. Fingers crossed.
