not that it's related in anyway to this but the other night my oil cap blew off the car and I ran over it! I went to check the catch can cos it's got an "atmospheric release mesh device" on the top of it and the tubing to it was harder than usual.

might have to sort that out right now in fact before I go anywhere

Haha, love your approach to the engine rebuild.

How much would you charge for a rebuild around about bige? or what would a re-build kit cost from you without the pistons (which are 1.5mm oversize by the way).

i thought all A series motors blow smoke haha ,i noticed that when i started my A12 on the ground with no rocker cover or crankcase ventalation hooked up it tended to get abit smokey

could it also be the oil might need changing aswell as the pcv valve being installed ?

Nah this engine is a veteran. Never got around to re-building it, I figured I'd get it running right first so I don't stuff anything up and then bring her up to scratch later on. Previous owner gave it a real flogging.

Gearbox is tired too...... and of course funds are crap.

shouldnt, isnt this your new motor? try a biger catch can.

why would you want your carbs injesting that muck. either tap the manifold or like all 1000's were, just vent to the atmosphere.

yes yes i know, it puts oil onto the road blah blah blah/environment blah blah blah.
