hmm so does that mean I'll have to switch the choke cable round to the other side so when the choke is pushed all the way it it's open.. otherwise as it stands if the cable is out all the way the flap is down.. if it's in.. it "pushes" the little thing forwards, activating the flap!

We were talking about this a couple of weeks ago (left-hand vs right-hand) chokes, but it appears they were both used in RHD vehicles. Early 1200s (1970-early 1971) changed it.
When the choke knob is pulled out from the dash, the butterfly valve should be closed. The external weight is to counterweight the secondary. Nothing is connected to it. Choke fully open (knob pushed to dash): ![]()

Hi Guys,
the new carb im putting in is a slightly different a12 carb to the old one.. I have 2 questions and then should be able to proceed! QUESTION 1: When the choke is out the little panel should be up right? if so can i just put the little metal tab that holds the choke cable round the other side of the carb so it operates the right way? Picture 1 ![]() Picture 2 ![]() I had to add the little choke metal tab that holds the cable on to the new carb.. it has a spring hanging down.. is that the spring that's already on the new carb or is there a 2nd spring? QUESTION 2: What does the little round weight thing on the side of the carb do as it just looks like it flops back and forward! does something need to be hooked up to it? ![]() Thanks so much! Cheers, Tom You can view topic.
